The festive occasion of Eid ul Adha is expected to be observed across Pakistan on Saturday, June 7, 2025, according to a statement issued by the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco).

The commission, citing scientific analysis and astronomical data, predicted that the Zul Hijjah moon is unlikely to be visible on May 27, as the age of the moon at sunset will be around 11 hours and 34 minutes — too young to be seen even under clear skies. There will also be only a 37-minute window between sunset and moonset, making crescent visibility extremely low.

Based on this analysis, 1st Zul Hijjah is expected to fall on May 29, and Eid ul Adha on June 7, pending final confirmation by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which considers both scientific input and physical moon sightings.

Earlier this week, astronomer Dr. Faheem Hashmi also shared similar findings. He stated that May 28 would mark the 30th and final day of Zul Qa’dah in Pakistan, and that the moon would be over 35 hours old by sunset that day — a favorable condition for moon sighting.

In Arab countries, where lunar months usually begin a day earlier, the Emirates Astronomy Society predicted that Zul Hijjah will start on May 28, making Eid ul Adha fall on Friday, June 6 in those regions.

As always, the official date in Pakistan will be announced by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee based on moon sighting reports from across the country.
