ISLAMABAD / LAHORE: Pakistan’s national space agency SUPARCO has predicted that the moon marking the start of Muharram-ul-Haram 1447 Hijri is likely to be sighted on the evening of June 26, 2025, depending on weather conditions.
According to SUPARCO, the new moon is expected to be born on June 25 at 3:32 PM. On June 26, by sunset, the moon will be 28 hours and 15 minutes old, which creates favorable conditions for visibility. The time gap between sunset and moonset in coastal areas will be around 75 minutes, supporting easy sighting if skies are clear.
If the moon is sighted, 1st Muharram is expected to fall on Friday, June 27.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on June 26 in Quetta, at the DC Office, to officially confirm the sighting. The meeting will be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
