(Update 1).. KARACHI: The Government of Sindh has officially announced the summer vacations 2025 schedule for all public and private schools and colleges in the province due to the increasing intensity of heat
According to a notification issued by the School Education & Literacy Department, summer holidays for the academic year 2025 will be observed from June 1 to July 31.
The decision was made after a meeting of the Sub-Committee of the Steering Committee on Education held on November 28, 2024, the notification, signed by Deputy Secretary (A&T) Ashraf Hussain Ansari, was shared with relevant departments and stakeholders on May 22, 2025.
Summer holidays will be for all schools and colleges in Sindh that are run by the School Education & Literacy Department. This includes both government and private institutions.

As per the official notification, all public and private schools under the Sindh Education Department will observe summer vacations from June 1 to July 31, 2025, as per the official notification issued on May 22, 2025.

Earlier, the Sindh government had declared a public holiday on Wednesday, May 28. According to the notification, there will be a holiday in government and private institutions on May 28 on the Day of Takbeer.
It should be remembered that the Department of Primary and Secondary Education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa announced school vacations for the summer yesterday.
The announcement said that the summer vacations will be from June 15 to August 31, while the summer vacations in the upper districts of the province will be from July 1 to July 31.
However, the Punjab government had announced summer vacations in schools. According to the notification issued by the School Education Department of Punjab, summer vacations will be from May 28, and all schools across the province will reopen from August 15.

It is being told that as the heat intensity increases in Karachi, the incidence of diarrhea has increased. According to a TV report, as the heat intensity increases in Shahr-e-Quaid, the incidence of diarrhea is increasing.
President of the Pakistan Pediatric Association Sindh, Dr. Waseem Jamalvi, said that dozens of diarrhea patients are being brought to government hospitals every day, and children are the most affected by diarrhea.

According to Dr. Waseem, contaminated water and substandard food are the main causes of diarrhea, while dehydration due to diarrhea can be life-threatening. Dr. Waseem Jamalvi instructed citizens to drink boiled water and wash their hands regularly.
On the other hand, despite the intense heat in Karachi, K-Electric continues to carry out prolonged load shedding, with power being cut off for 12 to 16 hours in various areas, while hours of power outages in the name of maintenance have become the norm. Citizens have called K-Electric’s claims of ending or reducing load shedding false.
According to details, K-Electric’s prolonged power breakdowns during the intense heat in Shahr-e-Quaid have made the lives of citizens miserable.
In recent days, K-Electric has not only extended the duration of power outages in several areas of the city, but there are also many areas where load shedding used to be absent, but now regular load shedding of 6 to 10 hours is being carried out there.

Long-term load shedding has been a source of distress for citizens in the areas of Korangi, Landhi, Malir, Khokrapar, Quaidabad, various blocks of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, New Karachi, North Karachi, Surjani, and Liaquatabad.
In addition, long-term power outages are also ongoing in Jamshed Road, Jahangir Road, PIB, Machar Colony, Railway Colony, Maripur, and Hawkes Bay.
A resident of Korangi area 35-C told Private Newspaper that there had been no load shedding in his area for the past five years, but now there has been 12 to 16 hours of load shedding in the intense heat for the past week.
In addition, a resident of area 48-B in Korangi said that in the last three weeks, electricity has been shut off for 10 to 12 hours continuously in the name of maintenance six to seven times, while scheduled load shedding continues. The resident said that his area was made load shedding-free in December last year, but now electricity is being shut off for 10 to 12 hours every day for a week.
