LAHORE: Asif Naswana from the Hamid Khan Group ( Professional Group ) has been elected as the president of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), securing 7,050 votes in the annual elections. His opponent, Saqib Akram Gondal from the Asma Jahangir Group ( Independent Group), received 6,460 votes and finished in second place.
For the vice president’s position, Abdul Rahman Ranjha won with 8,255 votes. In the contest for secretary, Farukh Ilyas Cheema secured victory with 6,833 votes. Meanwhile, Hussam Bin Shoaib Kamboh was elected unopposed as finance secretary.
A total of 13,602 votes were cast in the elections. Voting took place at the Lahore High Court, where seven polling booths were set up, and 120 computers were used for biometric voting.
Election Board Chairman Shahzad Mand and Deputy Chairman Muhammad Ali supervised the polling process.

Following the announcement of results, supporters of the winning candidates celebrated by chanting slogans and congratulating the newly elected representatives.
In his victory speech, President-elect Asif Naswana said his success represents a win for those advocating the supremacy of the constitution and the judiciary’s strength. He pledged to work for lawyers’ welfare and maintain close cooperation between the bar and the bench.
