ISLAMABAD: In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the traffic police have issued a comprehensive traffic plan to manage traffic flow during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 matches at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Different matches of the ICC Champions Trophy will be played in Rawalpindi on 24th, 25th, and 27th February at various times, and special arrangements have been made to handle heavy traffic during this period.
According to the traffic police, Murree Road will remain closed from Faizabad to Double Road during the arrival and departure of cricket teams. Traffic coming from Islamabad will be diverted from Faizabad to the Expressway.
The traffic police said that traffic from Ghausia Chowk will be diverted to Farooq Azam Road, Curry Road, and Double Road. Ninth Avenue Chowk will be completely closed for traffic, with traffic from Ninth Avenue diverted to Faizabad Expressway and Pandora Chungi.
Additionally, IJP Road, Carriage Factory, and Pir Wadhai Mor will remain open. Parking facilities have been provided for fans at five locations, and a shuttle service is available from the parking lot to the stadium.
According to the plan:
- Stadium Road and Double Road around the stadium will remain closed to all traffic.
- Mary Road will remain open for all types of traffic movement except for teams’ movements.
As per the announcement, traffic traveling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad should use Faizabad and JP Road instead of Stadium Road and Double Road. Traffic entering Rawalpindi from 9th Avenue can use Saidpur Road to enter Rawalpindi.

- Government Degree College: Satellite Town
- Hali Road/Shahbaz Sharif Park: Rawal Road (for motorcycles).

According to the Traffic Police, all three match days, i.e., 24th, 25th, and 27th February, heavy traffic will be completely closed from 7:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
Media Report Say Heavy traffic traveling from Peshawar to Lahore has been directed to use the Motorway (M-1) via Taxila and alternatively, the Fatah Jang Motorway can also be used from Tarnol Interchange.
Similarly, heavy traffic coming from Lahore GT Road to Islamabad and Rawalpindi has been directed to travel via Chakri Road to Chakri Motorway.
During matches, traffic on Srinagar Highway and Expressway will be disrupted, prompting residents to use various underpasses for city travel.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has introduced a special traffic plan for the ICC Champions Trophy, deploying 351 officers to ensure a smooth traffic flow during the event.
The ITP’s Public Relations Officer told official media that, under the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the traffic plan has been designed to minimize disruptions and facilitate citizens.
