Tech giant Twitter, renowned for its concise format and short video content, has recently undergone significant transformations, both in its features and management.
In a notable move, the platform has expanded its video limits for paid subscribers to an impressive two hours and 8GB, equivalent to the capacity needed for uploading a full-length movie.
Elon Musk, the esteemed chief of Twitter, took to the platform itself to announce the exciting development.
He stated, “Twitter Blue Verified subscribers can now upload 2 hour videos (8GB)!” This move aligns with Musk’s broader strategy to facilitate the uploading and consumption of lengthy videos on the platform.
The company first introduced the option to upload long videos in December of last year, and has recently implemented new playback speed controls on the web, further enhancing the user experience.
Musk’s vision for Twitter extends beyond its previous limitations, as he envisions transforming the platform into an “everything app” capable of competing with other prominent platforms like YouTube.
To accomplish this ambitious goal, Twitter has introduced a range of features, including an expanded character limit of 10,000 exclusively for paid users, as well as the reintroduction of Super Follows, now known as Subscriptions.
Since assuming leadership of Twitter in late October, Musk has courted controversy with his decisive actions, which have included widespread employee dismissals, the reinstatement of previously banned accounts, suspensions of journalists, and the introduction of charges for previously free services.
These bold moves have raised concerns among advertisers, leading many to abandon the platform out of apprehension about their brands being associated with controversial content.
