DERA ISMAIL KHAN: In the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Dera Ismail Khan district, two separate attacks resulted in the martyrdom of three policemen, with another sustaining injuries.
According to police sources, in the Dag Lara area of Peshawar within the jurisdiction of Michni Gate police station, a police van was targeted by unidentified assailants late on Monday.
The attack occurred around 11:30pm when the perpetrators opened fire on the police vehicle.
The incident led to the martyrdom of Ajmal Khan and Siraj Khan, while Assistant Sub-Inspector Mazhar sustained injuries.
The funeral prayers for the deceased officers were held at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines on Tuesday.
An FIR has been registered by the Counter-Terrorism Department, which is currently investigating the attack. However, no arrests have been made thus far.
In a separate incident, a police constable was martyred when unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle targeted him in the Sakhi Gate area of Kulachi tehsil, Dera Ismail Khan, on Tuesday.
According to the police, Constable Mohammad Bakhsh, who was stationed for security duty at Yadgar Chowk, was attacked while on a grocery shopping trip to Sakhi Gate. The assailants, three in number and armed, opened fire on him, resulting in his immediate death.
