ISLAMABAD: Ali Amin Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House on Wednesday.

The discussion encompassed various matters, notably the enhancement of cooperation between the federal government and the KP province. Among the topics addressed were the financial dues owed by the federation to KP and the restriction on meetings with PTI Founding Chairman Imran Khan in Adiala Jail.

Moreover, the meeting delved into provincial affairs, constitutional issues, and legal considerations. Special attention was given to the appointment of the Chief Secretary of KP, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of collaboration and addressing challenges collectively.

Following the meeting, CM Ali Amin Gandapur, accompanied by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, expressed satisfaction with the discussions, describing them as “positive.” Gandapur highlighted the PM’s commitment and support towards resolving public, provincial, and law enforcement issues.

Echoing similar sentiments, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal affirmed the Prime Minister’s assurance regarding the settlement of KP’s financial dues by the federal government. He mentioned the PM’s directive for officials from the finance ministry to engage with KP authorities on this matter.

Additionally, PM Shehbaz Sharif instructed officials to address challenges faced by the people of KP during suhoor and iftar.

Notably, CM Gandapur’s absence from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s oath-taking ceremony had previously strained potential cooperation between the federal government and KP. However, subsequent efforts have been made to mend relations, with a focus on addressing KP’s issues for the betterment of its people.

As part of this reconciliation, CM Gandapur has been advised to collaborate closely with the federal government to effectively address the province’s concerns.
