LAHORE: Following directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Directorate of Monitoring Cell has been established within the Home Department.
A special helpline, 1124, has been launched to address public concerns. Citizens can use this helpline to seek assistance or report issues related to the jail department, civil defence, highway patrol, and security companies. The helpline is also available for reporting suspicious items or bomb threats at any location.
The Punjab Highway Patrol has implemented a contact system to aid travelers on major highways. Passengers can dial 1124 in case of emergencies such as vehicle breakdowns, robberies, or other urgent situations.
Stringent measures will be taken against overloading and reckless driving on public transport, as emphasized by the CM. Medical assistance requests while traveling across Punjab highways can also be directed to the helpline. Any misconduct by highway patrolling personnel will be addressed promptly.

CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted that complaints regarding the misconduct of prison staff, including instances of bribery, can be lodged through 1124.
The rights of prisoners will be safeguarded, and grievances related to security guards or their employers will be swiftly resolved. Actions will be taken upon complaints of security personnel being underpaid.
Additionally, complaints concerning the illegal sale or transfer of LPG gas, as well as issues like the absence of emergency exits in multi-storey buildings or inadequate fire safety measures at petrol pumps and gas stations, can be reported to the helpline.
Ensuring the safety of lives and property remains a top priority for the government, stated the CM, warning against any negligence in addressing public concerns. She underscored the reactivation of highway patrol services to ensure secure travel along Punjab’s highways.
