KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the Peoples Bus Service in Karachi will run until late at night during Ramadan 2025. Starting from the 15th of Ramadan, the bus service will operate longer hours to help citizens.
He shared this news while speaking to journalists at an iftar party organized by the Sindh Information Department at the Karachi Press Club.
Sharjeel Memon praised the long-standing relationship between the media and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He said that freedom of the media strengthens democracy, but the media should also hold itself accountable.
He added that the Sindh government is committed to protecting journalists’ rights and is working on plans to provide plots to them. He also mentioned that a system will be created to address the issue of unpaid salaries for employees in large media houses.
The Information Minister urged the Federal Information Minister to play a role in solving journalists’ problems. He said the Sindh Information Department has always supported journalists during tough times, and their well-being is a top priority.
When asked about PTI founder Imran Khan, Sharjeel Memon said that since it is Ramadan, he prays for Khan to be released from jail and hopes he gains wisdom to avoid plotting against the country. He suggested that Imran Khan should focus on Pakistan’s interests.

On the issue of canals, he made it clear that the Sindh government’s stance is firm. Sindh will not give up its share of water. Regarding the Cholistan Canal project, he said the Sindh government opposes it and has taken the same position in IRSA.
The iftar party at Karachi Press Club was attended by provincial ministers Nasir Hussain Shah and Saeed Ghani, the Sindh government spokesperson, and many journalists, editors, and media representatives. Sharjeel Memon said the PPP and journalists have always had good relations, and this tradition was upheld this year as well.
He added that the Sindh government has stood by journalists in every difficult moment and will keep working to protect their rights. Discussions with journalist organizations are ongoing, and steps will be taken to address their concerns.
Extension of Peoples Bus Service Operating Hours:
Sharjeel Memon said the operating hours of the Peoples Bus Service in Karachi have been extended. From the 15th of Ramadan, the service will run until late at night to make travel easier for people during Ramadan. He explained that the Sindh government is taking all possible steps to serve the public, and this decision was made with citizens’ convenience in mind.
At the end of the iftar party, Sharjeel Memon thanked all the journalists and media representatives. He said the media and the PPP have stood together in every era, and this bond will remain strong in the future.
