School Education Department introduces face recognition for attendance

LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department has decided to launch a new monitoring system to stop fake student enrollments and check teacher attendance. Special cameras will be set up in schools to identify students and teachers through face recognition. These cameras will be placed at the main entrances of schools.

Daily reports from the cameras will be sent to the School Education Department. This step comes after reports that teachers in schools outside Lahore were absent and had private individuals working in their place.

The pilot project will start at Government Pilot School on Wahdat Road. Schools will also get special internet services to support this system. The department aims to improve accountability and stop fake enrollments with this new technology.
