ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has asked all political parties to submit their consolidated statements of accounts (Form-D) for the financial year 2024-25 by August 29, 2025.
According to a press release, this is required under Section 210 of the Elections Act, 2017, which states that parties must file their account details for the financial year ending June 30, 2025.
Meanwhile, in a major development, the ECP has also restored 74 reserved seats across the National Assembly and four provincial assemblies, in line with the Supreme Court’s verdict announced on June 27, 2025. This decision has brought significant changes to the composition of legislatures at both federal and provincial levels.
According to the ECP notification, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has received the largest share with 43 restored seats. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has been allotted 14 seats, while Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) received 12. Other parties including the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Awami National Party (ANP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), and PTI-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) have each been given one seat.

In the National Assembly alone, 19 seats have been restored. Of these, the PML-N has secured 13, the PPP four, and the JUI-F two. In the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, 25 reserved seats were reinstated. The JUI-F has received 10 seats, PML-N seven, PPP six, while PTI-P and ANP received one seat each. In the Punjab Assembly, 27 seats have been restored. Out of these, PML-N got 23, PPP two, and one seat each has been allotted to IPP and PML-Q. The Sindh Assembly has seen the restoration of three seats—two allotted to the PPP and one to MQM-P.
Following this development, the ECP has also withdrawn its earlier notifications issued in July 2024 that had declared PTI-backed candidates successful on several reserved seats. These notifications have been cancelled in light of the Supreme Court’s recent ruling, which upheld the Peshawar High Court’s earlier decision rejecting the Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) claim to reserved seats.
As a result, PTI-supported candidates who were earlier notified as elected on reserved seats in the National Assembly and the provincial assemblies of Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have now been de-notified. The ECP has confirmed that the fresh allotments are now legally in effect, ensuring full compliance with the Supreme Court’s majority judgment on the matter.
