JEDDAH: King Salman has approved a plan to distribute 1.2 million copies of the Holy Qur’an and its explanations in 79 languages. These copies will be sent to Islamic and cultural centers, as well as religious offices at Saudi embassies around the world.

Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Asheikh, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, thanked King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their ongoing support for Muslims globally.

He said the printed copies are among the best in the world and are carefully produced. The program shows the leadership’s commitment to sharing the Qur’an and helping Muslims benefit from it, especially during Ramadan.

Al-Asheikh also mentioned the leadership’s support for the ministry’s work in serving Islam and Muslims. He stressed the importance of promoting tolerance and coexistence, which are key Islamic values.

He added that all preparations to send the copies to the intended countries have been completed. This follows the ministry’s approved plan for the year.

The distribution will be managed in coordination with religious offices, ministry-affiliated centers, and various Islamic groups. The goal is to ensure the copies are delivered on time throughout Ramadan.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has asked Muslims in the kingdom to look for the Ramadan moon on Friday evening (February 28, 2025), according to a Saudi media report.

In a statement, the Supreme Court said, “Anyone who sees the moon with the naked eye or through binoculars should inform the nearest court and share their testimony. They can also contact the nearest center for help in reaching the court.”

The court also mentioned that it “hopes those who can spot the moon will take part in this effort. They are encouraged to join the committees set up in different regions for this purpose and consider the spiritual reward for participating.” The moon sighting is seen as a good deed that helps all Muslims, the court added.
