KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has shared new office and business hours for banks during Ramadan 2025. From Monday to Thursday, the SBP, all banks, and development finance institutions will operate from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a prayer break from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
On Fridays, the hours will be from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM without a break. For the public, banks will be open from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday to Thursday, with no break, and from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Fridays.
In a separate update, the SBP also announced that banks, development finance institutions, and microfinance banks will close for public dealings on the first working day of Ramadan 1446 AH for Zakat deduction. Bank staff will still need to report to work and handle internal tasks, but no public transactions will take place. An official notice is expected soon.

Ramadan is likely to start in Pakistan on March 2, 2025, with the crescent moon sighting expected on March 1.

Note: After Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, these timings will automatically revert to pre-Ramadan timings.
The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) predicts the new moon will appear on February 28 at 5:45 AM and will be visible on March 1 evening. The bank holiday on the first day of Ramadan is a regular practice to support Zakat deduction as per banking rules.
