LAHORE: The District Education Authority has taken action against at least 56 teachers who did not attend duty during the supplementary board exams for students in Lahore, suspending them from their positions.

As per media report, the education department completed an inquiry into the matter, uncovering that several teachers intentionally turned off their phones or refused to carry out their assigned duties on the day of the exams.

The inquiry report highlighted major administrative lapses resulting from the absenteeism of these teachers.

The absence of invigilator staff resulted in a shortage of personnel at exam centers, causing delays in the start of exams and making it challenging to prevent students from cheating.

Media reports indicate that students re-taking their exams faced unnecessary challenges due to the lack of staff, which also compromised the overall exam environment.

The District Education Authority has announced that action will be taken against the 56 teachers under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline, and Accountability (PEDA) Act.

On the other hand, the Controller of Examinations, Zahid Mian, says that the report of absent teachers from Kasur and Sheikhupura examination centers has also been sent to the concerned authorities.
