KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced Rs 400 million in financial aid for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Speaking at a ceremony organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD) at the CM’s office, Shah highlighted key priorities of the provincial government. These include sustainable partnerships, access to assistive technologies, inclusive education, and equal job opportunities for the rehabilitation of PWDs.
At the event, attended by provincial ministers and other officials, the CM distributed cheques to 56 partner organizations as part of the Rs 400 million aid package. The funds have already been transferred to the recipients’ accounts.
“Assistive technologies such as wheelchairs and prosthetic limbs are more than tools; they symbolize independence and dignity,” said the CM. “We are committed to creating a society where everyone has equal opportunities,” he added.
Children with disabilities presented touching performances, including one honoring the Pakistan Armed Forces. Artworks created by these children, featuring portraits of Benazir Bhutto and the CM, were also displayed and gifted to the CM.
