ISLAMABAD: The Federal Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection has issued the Zakat Nisab for the year 2025 in Pakistan.
The Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection has sent a letter to banks, according to which, if your account has an amount of Rs. 179,689 or more on the first day of Ramadan, then Zakat will be deducted.
According to the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Zakat will be applicable on savings accounts, profit and loss accounts, and similar accounts. Zakat will not be deducted from current accounts.
The letter sent to banks states that the deduction in terms of Zakat will be on March 1 or 2, corresponding to the first date of Ramadan.
According to the Zakat and Ushr Ordinance 1980, accounts with a balance of less than Rs. 179,689 on the first day of Ramadan will be exempted from Zakat deduction, and Zakat will not be deducted from them.

On the other hand, Islamic Ideological Council announced the amounts for Sadqa-e-Fitr (Fitrana) and Fidya for 2025 in Pakistan.
Dr. Raghib Hussain Naemi, in an official statement, said that the minimum amount for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya is 220 rupees per person if based on wheat. For barley, it is 450 rupees per person.

He added that for dates, the amount is 1650 rupees per person, for raisins it is 2500 rupees, and for barley it is 5000 rupees for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya.
The Chairman of the council said that those who can pay should give Sadqa-e-Fitr. It is required for every Muslim, whether they are slave or free, male or female.
The statement explained that one Sa’ (about 2 kilograms) is the measure for wheat, barley, and raisins, while two Sa’ (about 4 kilograms) is for dates. For 30 days, Fidya is 6600 rupees for wheat and 13500 rupees for barley.
It was also noted that Fidya for 30 days is 49500 rupees for dates, 75000 rupees for raisins, and 150000 rupees for barley.
They mentioned that if someone breaks their fast on purpose, they need to fast for 60 days in a row or feed 60 needy people two meals a day. For those using government-subsidized flour, the amount for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya is 160 rupees.
