ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on December 25, 2024 (Wednesday), on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.

According to media reports, government and private banks will also remain closed on December 25, Quaid-e-Azam’s birthday, and Christmas Day.

It should be remembered that Quaid-e-Azam Day is celebrated at the official level on December 25, and the Christian community also celebrates Christmas on the same day. December 25 is a public holiday across the country.

On the other hand, the country’s foreign exchange reserves have reached close to $15 billion.

According to the latest data from the State Bank of Pakistan, the country’s foreign exchange reserves have increased by $34 million, and the reserves stood at $14.82 billion as of September 13.

According to the data, the State Bank’s own reserves increased by $43 million to $9.50 billion, while the reserves of commercial banks decreased by $12.6 million to $5.31 billion.

Earlier, the Sindh government declared a public holiday on December 25 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The provincial government also declared a holiday on December 26 for Christian employees on the occasion of Christmas. Official notifications for both holidays have been issued.

It should be noted that the Sindh government also declared a public holiday on December 27 on the occasion of the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

According to the notification issued by the provincial government, all government and semi-government offices across the province will remain closed on that day. However, banks will remain open despite the public holiday.
