ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Anchor Person Aftab Iqbal has been detained at Dubai airport, his brother revealed in a social media post on X (formerly Twitter).
As per the private media report, in the post, Aftab’s brother, Junaid Iqbal—who is also associated with the media—expressed grave concern over the continued detention of the prominent TV host.
He said this incident happened on December 22, 2024, when Aftab Iqbal was traveling back to the UAE from Manchester, UK.
“I am writing with utmost concern that my eldest brother, Aftab Iqbal, senior journalist, with passport # BG 1337714, was traveling back to the UAE from Manchester, UK, yesterday, December 22nd, via Qatar Airways flight # QR1018. Upon arrival at Dubai Airport, he was stopped and detained there without any reason provided. We have not heard from him ever since. Being the protector of our community, you are requested to please take up the matter and help us secure his safe exit from the airport so that he can meet his family. Thanks,” he added.

According to the report, the family has called for urgent intervention, appealing to community leaders and authorities to assist in resolving the matter. They highlighted his contributions as a protector of the community.
In his appeal, Aftab Iqbal’s brother urged swift action to secure his safe release from the airport.
