ISLAMABAD: Government of Pakistan has announced the calendar of public holidays and optional holidays for the year 2025.
According to the notification issued by the Cabinet Division, there will be 40 public holidays and optional holidays in 2025: 17 public holidays and 23 optional holidays.
February 5, 2025, will be a public holiday for Kashmir Day, while March 23, 2025, will be a public holiday for Pakistan Day.
May 1, 2025, Labor Day, and Youm-e-Takbir will be a public holiday on May 28, 2025, while there will be three Eid-ul-Fitr holidays on March 30, 31, and April 1, 2025.
According to the notification, there will be three Eid-ul-Adha holidays from June 7 to 9, 2025, and 9th and 10th Muharram holidays on July 5 and 6, 2025.

Independence Day will be observed on August 14, 2025, and Eid Milad-un-Nabi on September 5 or 6, 2025, while Iqbal Day will be observed on November 9, 2025.
Quaid-e-Azam Day/Christmas will be observed on December 25, 2025, and the post-Christmas holiday for Christian employees will be observed on December 26, 2025.
According to the notification, Islamic holidays for the year 2025 have been fixed as per the expected dates. A separate notification for holidays will also be issued based on the sighting of the moon.
Bank holidays will be observed on January 1, March 1, and July 1 in the year 2025.
Notification also states that Muslim government employees will not get more than one optional holiday in a year, while non-Muslim government employees will not get more than three optional holidays in a year.
