KARACHI: The Sindh Excise Department has issued orders to change the number plates of all commercial and private vehicles.
The notification issued by the Sindh Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department states that the number plates of all private vehicles will be white in color and will feature a Sindhi Ajrak design, while the number plates of commercial vehicles will be yellow in color and will also feature a Sindhi Ajrak design.
The notification states that after April 3, 2025, yellow number plates on private vehicles and black number plates on commercial vehicles will no longer be acceptable.
The Sindh Excise Department says that the decision to change the number plates has been taken for security measures and uniform identification of vehicles. All vehicle owners should change the number plates of their vehicles before April 3, 2025.

Earlier, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), in collaboration with the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department, started registration through the e-auction app and web portal.
This initiative enables citizens to bid for attractive vehicle number plates from the comfort of their homes.
The registration process for this initiative will remain open until December 31, 2024. Both motorcycle and motor car number plates will be auctioned through the e-auction system, where successful bidders can also view the auction results and details directly on the e-auction app.
In this regard, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousuf said, “Through the e-auction app, citizens can now register online and easily participate in the bidding process to secure the vehicle numbers of their choice.”
