KARACHI – Sindh Police has established a driving training school in Karachi to help reduce the rising number of traffic accidents, especially those involving heavy vehicles like dumpers and water tankers.
A spokesperson for the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Syed Saad Ali, said in a statement that the training school has been set up at the Saeedabad Police Training College.
The school will provide driving lessons for cars, motorcycles, light transport vehicles, and heavy transport vehicles. Citizens will undergo an 18-hour training course, divided into three phases—classroom lectures, on-road field driving, and computer-based education.
Sindh IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon, along with senior officers and the school’s principal, visited the facility. DIG Driving License briefed them on the school’s building, classrooms, computer lab, and other facilities.
The IGP said the Karachi school is a pilot project, and similar facilities will be launched in Hyderabad, Larkana, and Khairpur. He also mentioned that the training school will be upgraded this year with driving simulators.

He added that all academic and administrative matters will be handled under the DIG Training Branch.
“Our aim is to promote safe driving because we value the lives and property of our citizens,” said IGP Memon. “Road safety is a top priority, and responsible driving is a basic need for every citizen. Sindh Police stands with them in this mission.”
He emphasized that only trained drivers can ensure safety on the roads, and this initiative is part of the broader effort to prevent accidents.
According to Karachi hospital records, nearly 500 people lost their lives and around 4,879 were injured in traffic accidents in 2024 alone.
