LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a detailed plan to improve the education system and raise the quality of education in the province. The plan includes providing modern facilities to students, improving teachers’ performance, and updating educational institutions to meet current needs through various steps.
The Chief Minister has decided to introduce a “CM Education Card” in the province. Students scoring above 80 percent will receive a “CM Eminence Star Card,” which will offer benefits to encourage them in their studies.
She also announced the establishment of modern labs for matric tech, where students can gain practical education with advanced technology. Additionally, a pilot project for English-speaking classes has started in 338 schools in Lahore to help students improve their English skills for international standards.
Maryam Nawaz set a 90-day deadline for providing clean drinking water, washrooms, and furniture in schools. She said that improving education quality is the government’s top goal and stressed the importance of teaching students love for their country and moral values.
In a meeting led by the Chief Minister, it was reported that after outsourcing schools, student numbers increased by 52 percent and teacher numbers by 89 percent. Under a reorganization program for 5,863 public schools, student enrollment rose from 242,000 to 368,000. Teachers’ salaries have tripled, and the amount of furniture in schools has also grown significantly.

Across Punjab, one modern “School of Eminence” will be set up in every tehsil to provide high-quality education. The Chief Minister directed that technical education be added as a subject from class five to teach students skills from an early stage.
Following the English-speaking pilot project in Lahore’s 338 schools, there is an agreement to introduce international-standard English courses and certificates in government schools. Five government school teachers will also visit Scotland for a study tour with support from the British Council.
Maryam Nawaz announced strict measures against corruption to make Punjab corruption-free. She said corruption is a red line and will not be tolerated at any level. After an officer was arrested by Anti-Corruption Punjab for corruption in the Planning and Development Department, she instructed officials to submit a report on public complaints quickly.
For the first time in Punjab, the target of providing textbooks at the start of the academic session in March was successfully met. The Chief Minister also set a goal of enrolling two million children in schools each year.
Maryam Nawaz said that improving education quality is the government’s main focus. She emphasized teaching students patriotism and ethics. Her vision is to bring government school standards up to the level of the best private schools, and all efforts will be made to achieve this.
These steps are expected to bring new energy to Punjab’s education system, providing students with better opportunities and raising the province’s education quality to an international level.
