Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departs for Egypt to attend D-8 summit

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif departed for Egypt on Wednesday for a three-day official visit to participate in the 11th Developing Countries (D-8) Summit in Cairo.

As per the report, The summit, themed “Investing in Youth and Supporting SMEs: Shaping Economy,” will focus on economic growth driven by youth and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

According to a PM Office press release, the prime minister will emphasize the significance of investing in youth and SMEs to build a resilient and inclusive economy. He will highlight employment generation, innovation, and fostering local entrepreneurship as critical components of economic development.

Shehbaz Sharif will emphasize Pakistan’s dedication to the goals of the D-8 group and encourage stronger teamwork among its member countries. He will also discuss important areas of cooperation, such as farming, food supply, and tourism.

The prime minister is set to showcase Pakistan’s initiatives for youth empowerment and economic advancement during his address at the summit.

Shehbaz Sharif will also join a special D-8 session to talk about the humanitarian crisis and rebuilding efforts in Gaza and Lebanon. He will highlight Pakistan’s support for Palestine and call for peace in the Middle East, especially regarding the ongoing Israeli attacks.

During the visit, Shehbaz Sharif will hold bilateral meetings with leaders of other participating countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi will attend the conference along with the prime minister.
