LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a meeting on Wednesday to review the “Dastak” program, a new initiative aiming to provide government services to citizens at their doorsteps.
Initially, ten services of the local government and other departments will be available through the “Dastak” app services. Gradually, people will access more than 100 government department services online or by phone.
The Punjab government claims that in the first phase, 10 facilities will be provided to the people of Lahore at their doorstep. It was stated during the meeting that citizens will obtain birth and death certificates, marriage and divorce certificates, domicile, e-stamp, vehicle registration and transfer, token tax, and property tax services at their doorstep.
The Punjab government says that in the second phase, the facility of character certificates, police verification, learner driving licenses, driving license renewals, copies of FIRs, duplicate driving licenses, and tenant registrations will also be available at the doorstep.
According to the project, dedicated riders will provide government services to citizens at their homes. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed for the immediate registration and training of riders.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that more than 100 services will be provided through the Dastak project in the future, creating more than 50,000 jobs. Citizens will be able to access the desired services by calling 1202 or through the Dastak application.
She further said that the Dastak rider will reach the doorstep of the concerned citizen and provide the required service. The government will ensure the convenience of the people and good governance in any case.
