ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has called a meeting to sight the crescent for Muharram-ul-Haram 1447 Hijri.
According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the meeting will be held on Thursday, June 26, in Quetta at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office after Asr prayers. The session will be chaired by Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad.
Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meetings will also take place in their respective provincial capitals. In Islamabad, the zonal committee will meet at Kohsar Block. The final announcement regarding moon sighting will be made by the chairman of the central committee.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has issued its forecast for the Muharram moon. According to SUPARCO, the age of the crescent at sunset on June 26 will be around 28 hours and 15 minutes.

SUPARCO officials said the time between sunset and moonset in Pakistan’s coastal areas is expected to be about 75 minutes, which provides favorable conditions for moon visibility.
Based on astronomical analysis and clear weather, the chances of sighting the new moon on the evening of June 26 are high. Therefore, the first of Muharram 1447 Hijri is expected to fall on Friday, June 27, 2025.
