Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, has announced the introduction of a new feature to the microblogging site that includes audio and video calls and encrypted messaging.
This move follows Elon Musk’s goal of providing multiple facilities to users on Twitter.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Elon Musk revealed that Twitter handles will soon have an audio and video chat option, allowing users to communicate worldwide without divulging their phone numbers.
By adding a call feature, Twitter is moving towards Meta’s social media apps, Facebook and Instagram.
Although encrypted direct messages will be available on Twitter starting Wednesday, Elon Musk has not confirmed whether calls will be encrypted as well.
It is worth noting that Twitter recently announced its decision to delete accounts that have been inactive for several years.
