LAHORE: The process of attaching body cameras on traffic wardens’ uniforms has started in Lahore. At first, body cameras have been given to the wardens working on Mall Road.
According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Dr. Athar Waheed, the main goal of using body cameras is to keep full proof while issuing challans. These cameras will also help in taking legal action against those who interfere with the wardens during duty.
Dr. Athar Waheed said body cameras will also help in monitoring protests, rallies, and other problems on the roads. Cameras fixed on uniforms will provide important evidence in case of any incident or crime on the streets.
He added that these cameras will also give quick information about the traffic staff’s duty positions. The use of modern technology in uniforms will bring positive changes in behavior.
It should be noted that, body cameras help make sure traffic police do their job honestly. They record what happens, so no one can lie or cause trouble. This makes people feel safer and stops false challans.
