KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan will be closed on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, for Youm-e-Takbeer, which is a public holiday.
The federal government had already declared May 28 as a holiday in the official list of public holidays issued in December 2024. All government and private offices will remain closed across the country.
Lahore High Court to remain closed
In an important update, the Lahore High Court has announced that all courts under its jurisdiction will remain closed on May 28. A notification was issued with the approval of Chief Justice Aalia Neelum. According to the notification, the Lahore High Court principal seat, its regional benches, and all session and civil courts will remain closed. Copies of the notification have been sent to the Supreme Court registrar and all session judges in Punjab.
Earlier, the Sindh government also announced that May 28 will be a holiday. A notification said that both public and private institutions in the province will remain closed.
Youm-e-Takbeer is observed every year on May 28 to remember Pakistan’s nuclear tests in 1998. These tests were carried out in Chagai in response to India’s nuclear tests.
