ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a holiday on May 9 and 10, 2025 (Friday and Saturday) for schools, colleges, and universities in Islamabad in view of the current security situation. The administration has also issued an official notification regarding the holidays.
According to the notification, all government and private educational institutions in Islamabad, including schools, colleges, universities, and training institutes, will remain closed on Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 10, 2025. This decision has been taken in view of the current security situation in the city.
The decision was made by District Magistrate Irfan Nawaz Memon, PAS, due to security concerns. The purpose of the closure is to ensure the safety of everyone.
However, exams scheduled for May 9 and 10, including international exams, will continue as planned and will not be affected by the closure.

Schools, Colleges, Universities Closed on 9-10 May in Islamabad:

Due to the tension between Pakistan and India and the current security situation, a two-day holiday has also been announced for educational institutions across Punjab.
According to details, in light of the tension between Pakistan and India, all educational institutions across Punjab will remain closed until Sunday, May 11.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat stated that all educational institutions in the province will remain closed for two days. Given the current situation, it has been decided to keep all private and government educational institutions closed on May 9 and 10. The holiday orders apply to all schools, colleges, and universities, for which Punjab has also issued a notification.
In addition, mock exercises by the Civil Defense Department and Rescue 1122 have begun in Punjab. The Civil Defense Department is fully operational, and drills are underway.
According to a private TV report, mock exercises by the Civil Defense Department are being conducted in cities across Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Jhelum, Chakwal, Sargodha, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Multan, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Vehari, and other cities.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the district administration to monitor the civil defense exercises.
In another news about county, Pakistan Army spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry reported that India conducted another aggressive act late on the night of May 7-8, 2025.

Pakistan’s military successfully intercepted and destroyed all 25 Indian Heron drones. In Lahore, a drone strike injured four soldiers, while in Mianwali, one civilian lost their life and another was hurt.
During a press conference, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) spokesperson stated that India breached Pakistan’s airspace again the previous night. All 25 drones launched by India into various cities were effectively shot down.
The military spokesperson noted that Indian drones were neutralized near Lahore, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Attock, Bahawalpur, Mianwali, Chhor, and Karachi. Efforts to gather drone debris are still underway.
He further mentioned that, regrettably, one drone in Lahore struck a military site, injuring four soldiers and causing minor equipment damage. In Mianwali, Sindh, drone operations led to one civilian’s death and injury to another.
