LAHORE: The Punjab government has directed district administrations to follow drone protocols and ensure people stay away from any drone-hit area until a bomb disposal squad clears it.

The home department issued a notice to deputy commissioners, stating that if a drone is spotted, district officials must use sirens and warning systems to alert people to stay indoors.

The home department has started training programs for civil defence and Rescue 1122 emergency services staff. It has also launched a public awareness campaign to inform people about safety steps during an airborne attack.

The notice explains that sirens signal a possible danger, such as an air strike or bombardment. People should move to a safe place like a bunker, room, or under stairs and avoid windows, as they may break and cause injuries.

The department advises turning off electricity and gas to prevent fires during an incident. If someone cannot reach a building, they should lie on the ground. The advisory also says to turn off lights in affected areas and wait until the danger has passed, even after sirens stop, before resuming normal activities. If injured, people should seek first aid and contact rescue teams.

As a precaution, the home department recommends preparing an emergency bag with water, dry food, medicines, a torch, batteries, a radio, and first aid supplies. People should keep family members, including children and the elderly, at home and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas under attack.
