ISLAMABAD: Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is now the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The ACC’s executive committee made this decision during an online meeting.
Naqvi has been the PCB Chairman since February 2024 and started his new role as ACC president on April 3, 2025, according to the ACC’s statement.
Naqvi said he is happy to take on this role and wants to work with all member countries to help cricket grow in Asia and around the world. He thanked the previous ACC president for his work. The ACC chooses its presidents by rotating among member countries.
Naqvi replaced Shammi Silva, the head of Sri Lanka Cricket. Silva said he enjoyed his time as president and believes Naqvi will do a good job leading the ACC forward.

Mohsin Naqvi has been PCB chairman for a three-year term since last year and is also Pakistan’s interior minister. He has decided to share his duties with Waqar Younis, a former Pakistan cricket captain.
Naqvi will handle the PCB’s administrative work, while Younis will advise on cricket matters, including international and domestic games, player selections, and approvals for players to participate in other events. The PCB’s rules from 2014 allow the chairman to share responsibilities with another official.
