ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has successfully launched its first locally-made Electro-Optical (EO-1) satellite. The launch took place at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in China, with support from Suparco, the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission.
As per report, the EO-1 satellite is designed to collect data and images of the Earth using electro-optical sensors, these sensors detect sunlight and radiation to provide useful information.
Suparco said that the satellite will help Pakistan manage natural resources, respond to disasters, and improve urban planning and farming practices, it will also track deforestation, monitor water resources, and provide updates on natural disasters like floods and earthquakes.
