Earlier reports had predicted that Ramadan this year will likely last 29 days, meaning Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on March 31, 2025. Khalid Ijaz Mufti, Secretary General of the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council, had shared that the new moon will appear on March 29, 2025, at 3:58 PM Pakistan time.

On March 30 (Ramazan 29), the moon will be over 26 hours old at sunset, making it easier to spot if the sky is clear. In many cities, the time between sunset and moonset will be at least 40 minutes, which helps in sighting the crescent moon.
However, the final decision on the moon sighting will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. If the moon is sighted on March 30, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated from March 31 to April 2, as announced. But if Ramazan lasts 30 days, Eid could start on April 1 and the holidays may extend to April 4, 2025.
Since Saturday and Sunday are already holidays for some government employees, people expect at least five holidays for Eid this year, from March 29 to April 2, including the weekend.
