LAHORE: A private TV channel reported that Ameer Balaj Tipu, the proprietor of a goods transport network, was fatally shot by an unidentified assailant during a wedding event in the Chung area on Sunday.
Balaj Tipu, whose father Arif Amir, also known as Tipu Truckanwala, was murdered in 2010 at Allama Iqbal airport, met the same fate. Furthermore, Balaj’s grandfather was also a victim of an old feud.
According to the police, Balaj was attending a wedding ceremony when an individual opened fire, critically injuring him and two other guests.
In response, Balaj’s associates retaliated and killed the attacker immediately. Despite being rushed to Jinnah Hospital, Balaj couldn’t survive his injuries.
The news of Balaj’s demise led to sorrow and outrage among his followers, who gathered at the hospital to mourn his loss. Some women were observed expressing their grief by beating their chests and condemning the perpetrators, while others voiced support for him through chants.
Authorities have sealed off the area and initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the motive behind the assault and identify the assailant. No arrests have been made yet.
Balaj Tipu was widely regarded as one of the most influential and intimidating figures in Lahore’s underworld. However, he consistently denied any allegations and involvement in illegal activities.
