ISLAMABAD: Ramadan in Pakistan this year is expected to last 29 days, meaning Eid-ul-Fitr will likely be observed on Monday, March 31, 2025.

According to a private TV channel, Khalid Ijaz Mufti, Secretary General of the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council, stated that the new moon will appear on March 29, 2025, at 3:58 PM Pakistan time.

On March 30, 2025 (Ramadan 29), the moon will be over 26 hours old at sunset, which is more than the 18 hours required to sight the crescent moon.

In various cities across Pakistan, the time between sunset and moonset will be at least 40 minutes, making it easier to spot the moon.

Khalid Ijaz Mufti mentioned that if the sky is clear on the evening of March 30, the moon should be visible. However, the final decision on moon sighting will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
