KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday across the province, including Karachi, on February 19, 2025 (Wednesday), on the occasion of the Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
As per the private tv channel report, the Sindh Services, General Administration, and Coordination Department has officially issued a notification in this regard.
The notification states that all government and semi-government offices and educational institutions in the province will remain closed on February 19 (Wednesday).
The 777th Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar will be celebrated with devotion and respect. The annual Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar will begin on February 17.

The arrival of pilgrims to participate in the Urs started several days ago. The pilgrims include men, women, elderly individuals, and children, who have made their way to the shrine.
Strict security arrangements have been made for the Urs, resulting in long queues of people waiting to enter the shrine. Every evening, the shrine of Lal Shahbaz resonates with the beat of drums, reminiscent of the dervishes of Maulana Rumi.
It should be noted that earlier, educational institutions across the province, including Karachi, were closed on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat following the Sindh government’s announcement.
