ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways plans to launch a high-speed express train between Lahore and Karachi, similar to the Green-Line Express operating between Islamabad and Karachi via Lahore.
An official news agency report stated, “The primary goal of this new train service is to offer passengers advanced amenities and an enhanced travel experience.”
Report said that teams from the relevant departments are currently working on preparations for the launch of this modern train, expected to begin by the end of January next year.
The official highlighted that Pakistan Railways is focused on enhancing passenger services by using new technology to locally produce coaches, eliminating the need for imports.
He also mentioned that the department is working to improve food quality and cleanliness to provide a comfortable and clean environment for passengers.

The Green-Line Express, inaugurated in 2015 by the then Prime Minister at Islamabad’s Margalla Railway Station, currently takes around 20 hours to travel from Islamabad to Karachi Cantonment Station, with stops at key locations including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Sukkar/Rohri, Hyderabad, and Drigh Road.
Report said that the train offers various classes, including AC, AC parlour, and Economy Class, along with a modern dining car that delivers high-quality services.
