ISLAMABAD: The largest sacrificial cattle market of the twin cities has been set up in Bhatta Chowk, spanning 250 kanals at the junction of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, to facilitate citizens’ purchases of sacrificial animals ahead of Eid ul Adha.
As the grand sacrificial ritual of Big Eid approaches, people have begun preparing to celebrate it with full enthusiasm.
Open 24 hours, the temporary setup will continue until the third day of Eid ul Adha. Any sale or purchase of animals outside the prescribed market is prohibited.
According to the media report, the Rawalpindi Cantt Board (RCB) has imposed certain conditions on the market contractor to maintain discipline and cleanliness inside the market.
Sellers and buyers are independent in price bargaining for the animals; however, buyers must pay a token tax, which varies for different animals.
All stages, from the purchase of the animal to its slaughter, have a unique style, giving cattle markets special importance, he said, adding that the best possible arrangements have been made for this significant activity.
In a brief interaction with the media on Sunday, RCB Secretary Rasheed Saqib informed that maintaining cleanliness and continuously monitoring animal viruses were top priorities to be regularly executed.
Rasheed informed that the coordinated and joint efforts of allied departments, including the District Health Department, traffic police, and monitoring teams, were ongoing, with official teams remaining vigilant in this regard.
