ISLAMABAD: The federal government announced three public holidays for Eid ul Adha 2024 on Tuesday.
After the approval of the Cabinet Division, the notification of Eid ul Adha holidays has been issued. According to this notification, Eid ul Adha holidays will be observed from Monday, June 17 to Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the summary forwarded by the Cabinet Division.
The notification states that all public and private institutions will remain closed from June 17 to June 19 in connection with Eid ul Adha.
It should be noted that for a few days now, there had been speculations from the federal and Punjab governments about extended holidays for Eid ul Adha this year.
This Muslim festival falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah and marks the Hajj pilgrimage. With Bakra Eid just around the corner, cattle markets have been set up in various areas for people to purchase cows, goats, sheep, and camels for sacrifice.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways has announced a 25% reduction in fares as a special package for commuters on the occasion of Bakra Eid.
The discount will be available on all types of trains and classes except for Eid special trains across Pakistan.
