KARACHI: The Zilhaj 1445 moon has been sighted, and Eid ul Adha 2024 will fall on Monday, June 17, Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad announced on Friday evening.
The announcement was made after a meeting of the committee at the main offices of the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi.
“Testimonies of the moon of Zilhaj being sighted were received from several areas of the country. It was unanimously decided that the first of Zilhaj will fall on June 8, 2024, and Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on June 17, 2024,” Maulana Azad said.
The meetings of zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees were also held at their respective headquarters today. The zonal committee of Peshawar earlier announced that members of the committee and media representatives were able to sight the moon.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia announced that Eid ul Adha in the kingdom would be celebrated on June 16, 2024, after the Zilhaj moon was sighted there on Thursday.
