LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has enforced Section 144 on the sale of sacrificial animals outside officially designated cattle markets throughout the province, including Lahore, in anticipation of Eid ul Adha.
According to a private Tv Channel report, Section 144 has additionally been enforced to prohibit the burning of trotters in public areas throughout Punjab. Furthermore, Section 144 has been extended to restrict bathing and boating in rivers, canals, and dams across the province.
The Punjab government has also prohibited the disposal of animal excreta and dung into manholes, drains, or canals.
Section 144 has been enforced across the province until Sunday, June 23, 2042. This measure was implemented to maintain law and order, and to protect the environment and human lives.
Authorities throughout Punjab will ensure the orders are implemented. The Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced that Eid ul Azha will be observed on June 17 (Monday) throughout Pakistan.
The announcement came following a committee meeting chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer at the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s headquarters in Karachi.
It should be noted that the federal government announced three public holidays ahead of Eid ul Adha 2024 in Pakistan, the festival celebrated by Muslims.
