KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department announced on Tuesday that summer holidays 2024 will be observed in all private and public sector schools, following similar decisions by Punjab and Balochistan.
A notification issued here stated that all public and private institutions in Sindh will observe summer holidays from June 1 to July 31, 2024.
“In line with the decisions made in the steering committee meeting, all public and private institutions under the administrative control of the School Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, will be closed from June 1, 2024, to July 31, 2024, for summer vacation,” the notification stated.
Earlier, the Sindh government was considering announcing early summer vacations across the province due to the ongoing heatwave.
However, the decision was revised after the Met department refuted reports of a heatwave in Karachi for the current month.
Due to the prevailing heatwave, the Punjab government had declared early summer holidays for all public and private schools. A notice says that schools in Punjab, both government and private, will be closed from May 25 to August 15.
Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, mentioned that many private schools asked for early summer holidays. Earlier, the government said all schools in Punjab, both public and private, would be shut from June 1 to August 14 for summer vacation.
