DASU: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asserted on Monday that the nefarious intentions of adversaries aimed at undermining the bond between China and Pakistan would not succeed. He pledged that all major development initiatives carried out by China would persist unabated.
Addressing Chinese engineers and workers involved in the Dasu Hydropower Project during his trip to Upper Kohistan district, he expressed heartfelt condolences for the five Chinese engineers who lost their lives in dedication to the progress and advancement of Pakistan.
“I want to offer my deepest sympathies for the loss of the five Chinese engineers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation’s prosperity. I assure you that their sacrifice will not be in vain, and those responsible for this cowardly terrorist act will be brought to justice,” he stated.
Accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong and federal ministers Amir Muqam and Atta Tarar, the prime minister visited the Kass residential camp directly from the federal capital. Upon their arrival at the helipad, they were welcomed by the Wapda chairman, executive officer of Chinese CGGC company, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary, and inspector general of police.
“I assure President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Qiang, and the Chinese people that we will not allow such despicable acts to occur on our soil in the future,” Shehbaz declared.
Expressing his sorrow over the Bisham terrorist attack that claimed the lives of five Chinese nationals and their Pakistani driver, he emphasized the unwavering strength of the friendship between Pakistan and China, denouncing efforts to undermine it.
After visiting the Chinese Embassy to convey condolences following the attack, the prime minister announced the formation of an inquiry committee to investigate the incident thoroughly.
“We will not hesitate to take action against those responsible for this attack once the committee submits its findings,” he affirmed.
Shehbaz reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing security measures for Chinese nationals working on various projects, including the Dasu Hydropower Project, to prevent future occurrences of such cowardly acts.
“We have devised a comprehensive strategy, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure the safety of Chinese workers and prevent any further subversive activities,” he stated.
Expressing gratitude for the prime minister’s visit and condolences, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong emphasized the importance of ensuring foolproof security to prevent similar attacks in the future.
