Peshawar bans drones, quadcopters for 30 days over security concerns

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar district administration has imposed a complete ban on the use of drones and quadcopters across the city for 30 days, citing the prevailing security situation, public safety, and the protection of important government installations.

According to a statement issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Peshawar, the measure has been implemented with immediate effect under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

Officials stated that the aim of the ban is to protect the lives and property of citizens and prevent any potential security threats or chaos.

The statement clarified that strict legal action will be taken against those violating the ban under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The district administration has appealed to citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity or violation of the ban to the relevant authorities. These orders are effective immediately and will remain in force for the next 30 days.

On the other hand, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government managed to save more than Rs. 111 billion by controlling its expenditure compared to its income at the end of the third quarter of the current fiscal year, 2024-25.

The province’s total income during the three quarters was Rs. 1,031 billion, while its expenditure during this period was Rs. 919.95 billion.

According to statistics released by the federal government, from July 2024 to March 2025, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government received a total of Rs. 1,031.26 billion in financial resources, of which the province received Rs. 824.86 billion under the National Financial Award from the central government, while the province itself earned Rs. 46.20 billion from revenue and Rs. 40.17 billion as non-tax income.
