ISLAMABAD: Hungary will provide 400 fully funded scholarships for Pakistani students and signed several agreements to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
At a press conference in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar welcomed the Hungarian Foreign Minister during his second visit to Pakistan. He said the visit would help improve the long-standing relations between the two nations.
Ishaq Dar called Hungary a helpful friend to Pakistan and expressed Pakistan’s interest in growing ties. He noted Hungary’s support in Pakistan’s industrial sector through partnerships, such as with the Mughal Group, where over 100 people have contributed to trade and industry with Hungary’s assistance.
The two countries recently signed agreements to increase cooperation in trade and industry. They also discussed the situation in Gaza.
On regional issues, Dar shared Pakistan’s security concerns related to Afghanistan and mentioned ongoing talks with Afghanistan. Hungary responded positively to these efforts.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó spoke to the media, noting that Pakistan and Hungary have had diplomatic relations for 60 years. He stressed the importance of expanding ties in trade, industry, and culture, pointing out shared interests between the two nations.
He acknowledged Pakistan’s challenges due to its border with Afghanistan and supported Pakistan’s work toward regional peace, saying, “We see Pakistan as a friend working for stability.”
On the Ukraine-Russia conflict, Szijjártó said both countries want peace and expressed concern that some European nations are not supporting efforts to end the war.
He also confirmed that Hungary is offering 400 fully funded scholarships to Pakistani students, with nearly 1,700 applications already received.
