Islamabad United’s bowler Naseem Shah, participating in the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), incurred a 10% fine of his match fee for violating the code of conduct during a match against Multan Sultans on Sunday.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Naseem was penalized 10% of the match fee “due to a level 1 breach of the PSL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.”
Naseem, aged 21, was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2, which pertains to the misuse of cricket equipment or attire, as well as ground equipment or fixtures.
The PCB stated, “Naseem had kicked the stumps after the final ball of Multan Sultans’ innings.”
Upon being charged, the fast bowler admitted his offense and accepted the penalties proposed by match referee Roshan Mahanama, thus obviating the need for a formal hearing.
The umpires on the field, Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Muhammad Asif, enforced the charge for breaching the code of conduct.
In a related development, Multan Sultans also faced a fine for maintaining a slow over-rate during the same match.
Match referee Mahanama determined Multan Sultans to be one over behind their required rate, factoring in time allowances before reaching the decision.
Consequently, in accordance with Article 2.22 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, each player was fined 10% of their match fee.
