New Federal Cabinet Portfolios Announced

ISLAMABAD: The federal government allocated portfolios to the newly-formed 19-member federal cabinet on Monday.

According to a notification, Khawaja Asif was appointed as the defense minister, with additional responsibilities in defense production and aviation.

Ishaq Dar assumed the role of Foreign Minister, Ahsan Iqbal took charge of Planning, Development, and Special Measures.

Mohammad Aurangzeb became the Finance and Revenue Minister, while Mohsin Naqvi was assigned Home Affairs and Narcotics Control. Ahad Cheema took on the responsibilities of Economic Affairs and the Establishment Division.

Musadik Malik became the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada was named Minister of Housing and Works, and Attaullah Tarar assumed the role of Information and Broadcasting Minister.

Awais Laghai was appointed Minister of Railways, Safran, and Heritage and Culture, Jam Kamal for Trade, Abdul Aleem Khan for Privatization and Board of Investment.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain became Minister of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Azam Nazir Tarar assumed the portfolio of Law and Justice and Human Rights, while Rana Tanveer Hussain took on Industries and Production.

The swearing-in ceremony for the newly-formed 19-member federal cabinet took place at the Presidency earlier on Monday, administered by President Asif Ali Zardari.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif finalized the 19-member cabinet after consultations with party leaders and forwarded the names to the president on Sunday.

The cabinet consists of 12 MNAs, three senators as federal ministers, and Shaza Fatima Khawaja as a minister of state, presenting a mix of experienced politicians such as Khawaja Asif, Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazeer Tarar, and Musadik Malik alongside newcomers including Aleem Khan and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
