Punjab Restructures Education System: Consolidating Nine Boards into One

LAHORE: In a significant development, it has been determined to dismantle all nine education boards in Punjab, consolidating them into a singular entity.

According to credible media reports, the forthcoming board will be led by an officer of either grade 20 or 21, with its administrative headquarters to be situated in Lahore.

A substantial budget of one billion 25 crore rupees has been earmarked for the implementation of this initiative.

However, it should be noted that no official notification has been issued in this regard yet.

Further details concerning this allocation are expected to be finalized imminently.

Meanwhile, amidst this decision, employee unions representing the various boards have announced their intent to protest.

Yesterday, Malik Nisar, Chairman of the employees’ unions, issued a PBCC meeting ultimatum, warning of a cessation of all activities if the decision is confirmed during the meeting.

He emphasized that any disruption in the examination process would squarely place responsibility on PBCC and HED.

Employees perceive the Higher Education Department’s annual financial benefits, including vehicle usage and staff employment, yet express disillusionment at apparent policy biases against them. Subsequent to this declaration, the PBCC meeting was adjourned.

Official sources have indicated that the incoming government will prioritize initiatives aimed at enhancing the future prospects of the educational boards.
