ISLAMABAD: Senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, emphasized on Wednesday the party’s rightful claim to form a robust government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in Punjab and at the national level, adhering to constitutional and democratic norms.

Taking to his social media platform, he reiterated PTI’s commitment to safeguarding the people’s mandate, stressing the importance of upholding electoral integrity. He urged for the immediate release of election results as per Form 45, the restoration of seats rightfully belonging to PTI, and the replacement of unconstitutional power structures with those supported by the people’s vote.

Khan underlined the essential role of constitutional supremacy and democratic principles in shaping Pakistan’s future, cautioning against the perils of disregarding these foundational elements. He warned that history has shown the consequences of governing without adherence to constitutional norms and democracy, leading to crises and challenges.

Expressing concern over the current political situation, Khan highlighted PTI’s resilience despite challenges such as the incarceration of its founder chairman, Imran Khan, and attempts to disrupt the electoral process. He asserted that any manipulation of the mandate constitutes a violation of democratic principles and undermines Pakistan’s interests.

Meanwhile, PTI rejected what it labeled as an attempt to impose the mandate of the ‘thieves’ clique of PDM-2 on the nation, with support from elements involved in regime change conspiracies. The party denounced the agreement between PML-N and PPP to form a coalition government, alleging collusion with authorities to undermine constitutional and legal frameworks.

The spokesperson condemned efforts to usurp the public mandate, warning of severe political instability if such actions persist. Emphasizing PTI’s overwhelming mandate, despite challenges such as the unjust imprisonment of Imran Khan and electoral restrictions, the spokesperson reiterated the party’s commitment to upholding democratic values and resisting attempts to subvert the people’s will.

Additionally, senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser, following a meeting with Imran Khan, criticized the PML-N and PPP’s attempt to form a government, questioning the legitimacy of their mandate. He urged for grace in accepting electoral outcomes, highlighting the urgency of addressing pressing national issues rather than engaging in political maneuvers.

In a separate development, PTI’s Sher Afzal Marwat accused the Islamabad police of trespassing his residence with the intent to abduct him. Alleging police misconduct, Marwat called for accountability and accused the IG Police Islamabad of engaging in terrorism within the federal capital.
